Filipino contestant’s first step to stardom at The Voice UK

Filipino born Joseph Apostol from Kent England tried his luck on The Voice UK’s blind auditions series 2 in 2013. He moved to the United Kingdom as a young boy because his mom was hired as a nurse. He said that it was a difficult time for him to adjust in a new environment with a different culture and language.

During the blind auditions, he rendered “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” by Dave Mason. Tom Jones and Jessie J were impressed with his voice and turned pressed the buttons for him. Will.i.am interviewed Joseph first and he found out that he was from the same country where his best friend Apl.de.ap came from. Will.i.am tries to talk to Joseph using some Filipino words and asked him if he likes chicken “adobo.”

When it was time for Joseph to decide, he chose Tom Jones as his mentor. Joseph’s journey ended at the semi-finals where he sang the song “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men. He did not make it to the finals but he was able to sing with his mentor Sir Tom and Mike Ward on stage with the song ‘Games People Play,’ a 60s hit by Joe South.

Presently he continues performing in gigs and also planning to launch his EP. He is into song writing as well. For the complete interview visit Joseph’s Facebook Fan Page JosephApostolMusic.
